Linter explains his relationship with Callas during his university studies and points out her neutral stance on national issues

In an interview with Novosti, Linter said that he lived near Callas during his university years, and they had a friendly relationship, noting that they used to talk a lot about global politics issues.

He pointed out that Callas showed great interest in political affairs and adhered to her convictions, but she took a neutral position on issues related to relations between nationalities, and did not consider herself a nationalist.

Linter added that he was saying to her: “You are all anti-Russians,” referring to the Estonians, and she replied: “Dem, what kind of Russophobe am I? I am talking to you normally.”

Callas is currently known for her anti-Russian statements and positions, while the Member of the European Parliament for Luxembourg, Fernand Kartheiser, described her, in a previous interview with “Novosti,” as “explicitly hostile to the Russians,” and he did not rule out that her appointment to her position was a deliberate provocation.

Linter is a well-known political activist in Estonia, and became famous in 2007 for defending the “Bronze Soldier” monument in Tallinn, after the authorities decided to remove the monument, which sparked protests from the Russian-speaking population.

The authorities arrested Linter with other activists at the time, before the court acquitted them after seven months of detention. He later left for Russia, and currently resides in Donetsk, where he works voluntarily to support the military.
