The PP rules out requesting article 102 against Sánchez for Ceuta and refers to the National Court

The general secretary of the PP, Miguel Tellado, has ruled out supporting the activation of article 102 of the Constitution to try the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, for treason, for not preventing the massive entry of immigrants to Ceuta last July, and the criminal case that, on this episode, is being instructed by Judge María Tardón in the National Court, has been referred.

He said this before participating in the protest called in Madrid by the Spanish Civil Society, whose manifesto does demand the trial of Sánchez for treason, a demand initially launched by Vox, which also attends this march in a delegation led by its leader Santiago Abascal.

Shortly after, in the same forum, Abascal himself said that he does not understand the PP's refusal to apply this constitutional precept, Tellado, in response to questions from the press, insisted that the Government "could not evade responsibilities" because, in his opinion, it incurred "clear negligence", but has referred at all times to the judicial investigation already opened.

"There is a general feeling that the Government of Spain has not acted responsibly, that there has been a maximum abandonment of functions and negligence, because it knew what was going to happen and did not act," he said, accompanied by the spokesperson for the PP in the Senate, Alicia García, and the deputy spokesperson for the Popular Group in Congress, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo.

And after mentioning the warnings from the intelligence services, in response to which the "Government crossed its arms and allowed the borders of Spain to be crossed by a human tide of 80,000 invaders", he proclaimed his party's confidence in the "open proceedings in the National Court."

In this context, he clarified that the request for Sánchez's trial for treason has been included in the manifesto by decision of the entities united in Spanish Civil Society. "The manifesto is their manifesto, but we are with them, with that majority of Spaniards who demand elections now," he said, focusing on that demand and the criticism of the Government for the management of the autonomous city.

"It is certainly regrettable that Spanish society has to take to the streets to ask the Government of Spain to defend our territorial integrity," he stated, censuring the Government for not acting either to prevent "the invasion" or to face its consequences."

According to Tellado, the Executive is not "acting with the speed and responsibility required" because in Spain "there is no Government but rather "some gentlemen equipped in the Moncloa Palace, which they use as a refuge to defend themselves from the various judicial cases opened against them."

"There is more sense of State in the president of Ceuta than in the entire Government combined, which has abandoned the city," he denounced, adding that "it is difficult to demand anything from a Government that has plunged into the sewers that they themselves have set up to defend themselves from their judicial cases" and that "has committed crimes to cover up its own crimes."

He said this in reference to information that indicates that "from the plot directed by Mrs. Leire Díez, following instructions from Santos Cerdán, they contacted a clan of drug traffickers from Badajoz, Los Rochos, to ask them to put fear into a judge who was investigating Pedro Sánchez's brother."

"When a Government becomes a clan, when there is more honorability in a clan of drug traffickers than in the Government itself, because they rejected the order, the reality is that we can only ask for elections now," the 'popular' leader concluded.

And he has also stressed that "those who have invaded Ceuta must leave where they came from", especially when Morocco "has shown its willingness to make that happen." In this sense, he has pointed out that the question is "why does the Government not return the invaders to where they came from" and has not "activated the legal mechanisms so that this return is immediate."
