Epstein Files, Rome prosecutor opens a file for sexual violence

The Rome prosecutor's office has formally opened a file on the Epstein Files on the hypothesis of sexual violence. And in recent days it sent a letter rogatory to the United States Department of Justice to acquire the documentation relating to the matter, including the documents that have not yet been made public. The objective - writes la Repubblica which reports the news on the front page - is to ascertain whether Italian citizens abroad or people who have acted on national territory could be involved in episodes of a sexual nature prosecutable by the Rome prosecutor's office.

The investigation, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Maurizio Arcuri, arose from the complaint presented on March 26 by Differenza Donna. With that act the association had requested "the initiation of investigations into possible transnational crimes of trafficking, sexual violence and sexual exploitation of women, girls and minors connected to documents made public by the United States Department of Justice". Already from those documents, according to what is claimed in the complaint, "recurrences of Italian subjects emerge, significant and non-episodic references to stays, movements and relationships in Italian locations - Capri, the Amalfi Coast, the Costa Smeralda, Milan and Rome - as well as contacts with subjects included in economic and social circuits of international importance who may have played a role in the network of exploitation and rape".
