Femicide Lorena Isceri: investigations into the premeditated attack in Florence

Investigations continue into the femicide of Lorena Isceri, the 45-year-old manager killed by her ex Federico Vella: the 36-year-old attacked her in Florence, locked her in the trunk of the car and then threw her off the A1 viaduct in Barberino del Mugello, before also throwing himself into the void. The woman "was afraid" but did not report her ex because "she did not want to harm him", said the victim's mother. Meanwhile, while a video shows the agents' negotiation to convince the 36-year-old not to kill himself, the hypothesis of a premeditated attack is gaining ground.

The femicide occurred on Thursday 3 September. In the early afternoon the man snuck into the garage where the woman parked the car and, after covering the photoelectric cells with tape to prevent the doors from closing, waited for Isceri to arrive. Then he attacked her, loaded it into the trunk of the car together with her bag and left. From her bag, Lorena Isceri managed to take her cell phone and contact 112 to ask for help: a phone call that lasted about twenty minutes with the emergency number operations center. The phone call ends with the man, having noticed the conversation, saying "What are you doing?". Then the 36-year-old allegedly grabbed Lorena Isceri to throw her into the void. Shortly afterwards he also jumped from the viaduct.

The man jumped after the arrival of some officers, who in the meantime had identified the car after the alarm raised by Isceri. In a video lasting about ten minutes, shot with a mobile phone by one of the members of the police force, you can see the negotiations conducted to prevent the 36-year-old from jumping. In the video, Vella is seen hovering behind the guardrail, a policewoman and firefighters on their knees. Several voices are heard trying to convince him to take a step back and he repeats not to come closer, until the moment he launches himself.

Meanwhile, as the hours pass, the hypothesis of a premeditated attack takes shape. In the man's car, parked a few steps from the ex's house, some electrical cable ties were found which would have been used to bind the victim's wrists and the tape. An autopsy will be carried out on the two bodies on Monday: it must establish whether the woman died before or after the impact on the ground and will also help to understand whether the man had taken any narcotic substance.

The Florence Prosecutor's Office has opened a case for voluntary homicide and the investigations are coordinated by the prosecutor Antonio Natale. Various people have been spoken to during these hours. "She was scared. And she had been with us in Puglia also because she was too scared", said Lorena Isceri's mother. As to why the woman hadn't reported it, the mother explained: "She didn't want to harm him." The lady was interviewed by investigators in Lecce, the area of ​​origin of the victim who then moved to Florence. He would have said that the relationship began almost two years ago and that the two had met at the gym in Florence, where they both lived. In the last year, however, relationships became very conflictual, with the man becoming increasingly obsessive. Almost a month ago, then, she left him. The victim's friends also said they had warned the 45-year-old and to avoid being seen by the man in her company, fearing a violent reaction.
