Another raid in Euskirchen JVA: suspicion against employees

There has been another raid at the Euskirchen correctional facility (JVA) in North Rhine-Westphalia.

As the Bonn public prosecutor's office confirmed, it is about missing electronic master keys. They had already played a role in an initial search in May.

According to dpa information, Justice Minister Benjamin Limbach (Greens) informed the chairmen of the legal committee in the state parliament this morning that the current search was aimed at five employees who had already been affected by the first raid. The investigating authorities initially did not confirm this and emphasized that the investigation was directed against unknown persons.

So far, several prison employees are suspected of having accepted money in return for relief from prison sentences. They are said to have sold regular subscriptions in exchange for monthly payments, which, for example, warned about cell checks.

According to dpa information, the investigations led to the suspicion that the previously accused could also have something to do with the disappearance of the inner workings of two electronic transponders that were kept in the prison as master keys for the fire department. In May it was still officially unclear who had manipulated the transponders.
