Trial begins after killing a 32-year-old in Bremen

The trial against three men aged 64, 37 and 36 for the joint murder of a 32-year-old has begun at the Bremen regional court under high security precautions.

The crime is said to have occurred in Bremer Neustadt in March. In the months that followed, shots were fired several times in the district and elsewhere in Bremen. A court spokesman said the charges were unrelated.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the 64-year-old Turkish defendant got into an argument with the later victim in a café. The defendant is said to have called his 36-year-old son with the words “We have to kill him”. The son came over with the 37-year-old. A scuffle broke out on the street and the victim fell to the ground. While the father and son are said to have kicked the man, the 37-year-old Turk is said to have fired three shots at him. The victim died that same evening. Dates are scheduled for the trial until January.
