Aggravated life imprisonment for the defendant who killed and dismembered his wife

The incident took place on January 28 in the flat on the 3rd floor of a 3-storey building on İzzet Street, Selamet District, Osmangazi district. Ali Fuat Uzunoğlu allegedly; He was killed by his wife Adalet Uzunoğlu. Uzunoğlu put the body, which he cut into pieces with a hatchet, into bags and threw it into trash cans and containers on the street where his house was located and in the surrounding area.

Justice Uzunoğlu, who went to the police station at around 21.30 on January 30, reported her missing by saying that her husband went down to the entrance door of their 3-storey house to look at the bell that rang 2 days ago and never came back. When the teams started a search for Uzunoğlu and went to the house to investigate and get information from Adalet Uzunoğlu, they found Ali Fuat Uzunoğlu's mobile phone, wallet and ID. The teams also found traces of blood in various parts of the house.

When Adalet Uzunoğlu gave contradictory answers to the police officers' questions, an investigation was launched by the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and the Provincial Police Department Public Order Branch Directorate Homicide Bureau teams were assigned. Crime scene investigation teams were dispatched to the address. An inspection was carried out on the top floor of the 3-storey building, which belonged to the couple and it was learned that the first 2 floors were empty. Traces of blood were detected at the entrance of the flat, which appeared to be dirty and neglected, on the electrical outlet, in the sink, and on the cleaver and knife found in the house. During the biological examination, tissue pieces were also found in various parts of the house.

While biological samples, cleavers and knives were sent to the Bursa Regional Criminal Police Laboratory Directorate for examination, Adalet Uzunoğlu was also taken under technical and physical monitoring. In criminal investigation; It was determined that the blood and tissue samples belonged to Ali Fuat Uzunoğlu, for whom a missing person complaint was filed, and the fingerprints on the cleaver and knife belonged to Adalet Uzunoğlu.

After the criminal report was released, Adalet Uzunoğlu and her sons F.U. (48) and M.U. (50) and his brother B.C. (65) was detained by the Provincial Police Department Public Order Branch Directorate Homicide Bureau teams. During his interrogation at the police station; Uzunoğlu, who claimed that he did not kill his wife but admitted that he dismembered her body, said, "When I woke up on the morning of the incident, she was lying motionless in front of the stairs. She fell down the stairs and died. I was afraid that they would think that I had pushed her to death and that it would be my responsibility. I cut my wife into pieces with a cleaver and a knife and threw them into different garbage bins near my house."

Justice Uzunoğlu was arrested on the charge of 'deliberate murder' by the courthouse to which he was referred on April 5, while his two sons and his brother, who were detained within the scope of the investigation, were released on condition of judicial control.

Justice Uzunoğlu appeared before the judge at the Bursa 9th High Criminal Court in the second hearing of the case filed against him, requesting aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "aggravated intentional murder against his spouse". In addition to the detained defendant Adalet Uzunoğlu, her children F.U. and M.U., the defendant's lawyer and the lawyer of the Ministry of Family and Social Services attended. The report received from the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute, which was requested by the court panel at the previous hearing, to determine whether Adalet Uzunoğlu was mentally healthy or not, was released. In the report, it was determined that Uzunoğlu was in good mental health. When asked by the presiding judge who read the report, "Are you going to say anything to the report?", the defendant cried and said, "I can't think of anything. I can't stay in prison. I can't meet any of my needs. I want house arrest."

After the defense of the defendant's lawyer, the public prosecutor gave his opinion. The prosecutor's office requested that the defendant be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'aggravated intentional murder against his spouse'. After the defendant's lawyer did not defend himself against the opinion, the court announced its decision. The court ruled that the defendant be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment on the grounds that he committed the crime of 'intentional murder against his wife', and decided that he would not benefit from the good behavior discount, considering that he dismembered the body after the act, and decided to continue his detention.
