Student carries a bag with medicine, snacks and eight pens for the Enem test: 'I'm paranoid'

Thousands of people gather, this Sunday (8), for the first day of the National High School Exam (Enem) in Pernambuco. In Recife, one of the largest testing locations is the campus of the Catholic University of Pernambuco (Unicap), in the Santo Amaro neighborhood, in the central area of ​​the city.

One of the students who volunteered to face the marathon of questions is Sophia Carolina de Souza, 18 years old, who is finishing high school and trying to get a place in the medical course. To make it easier to carry the necessary items, she prepared a transparent bag.

"I brought salty, I brought sweets too. If my blood pressure drops, there's something to help. I brought some sweets just to give you a snack, and several pens because I'm paranoid. If one fails, I have others. Medicine for headaches, water which I think is essential, and, of course, your ID because, without that, you won't take the test", he said.

In the same place, four cousins ​​had the coincidence of taking the exam in the same place. Two of them, the brothers Nicolly Lima and Flávio Fellipe Soares, stayed in the same room. This is the second time they have taken the Enem after completing high school, in 2025. She is trying to get a place on the physiotherapy course, while he is looking to go into law.

"I believe it was a lot of coincidence, in fact, that we both ended up in the same room, in the same block, and I have very high expectations. This year it will work out, in the name of Jesus", said Nicolly.

Flávio is also looking forward to the topic of the essay. On this first day of tests, in addition to the essay text, candidates need to answer 90 questions on languages ​​and humanities.

“I have a lot of expectations, especially for the essay topic, I am already very thoughtful, wanting to know what it will be, to try to apply the knowledge that was passed on during the year and I hope, I also believe, that it will work”, said Flávio.

On November 15th, candidates return to the test sites to answer another 90 questions, this time on mathematics and natural sciences.

Test times

Gates open at noon and close at 1pm. The exam starts promptly at 1:30 pm. Candidates have until 7pm to complete the test, which lasts five hours and 30 minutes.

From 3:30 pm onwards, you are allowed to leave the test site without taking your question book. Leaving with your notebook is only permitted after 6:30 pm.
