Explosion on the inter-Korean border leads to tensions

An explosion in the border area between North and South Korea leads to growing tensions between the two countries.

South Korea's Defense Minister Kang Shin Chul spoke in parliament in Seoul of a "clear violation" of the ceasefire agreement and announced "corresponding measures."

Last week, the South Korean General Staff announced that three officers had been injured in an explosion in the demilitarized zone in the border area. The incident occurred south of the demarcation line.

On Monday, the General Staff said that it was assumed that North Korean landmines had triggered the explosion.
