A Saudi citizen was injured in a knife attack in London and is in stable condition

The British police announced that the injuries to which the Saudi citizen was exposed did not pose a threat to his life, amid follow-up by the Saudi Embassy in the United Kingdom and coordination with the competent authorities.

The incident occurred in Berkeley Square in the Mayfair area, near Oxford Street, at 10:07 pm yesterday, Thursday, September 3, in an area witnessing a human density of tourists and visitors and a security presence.

Immediately upon receiving the report, ambulance and police teams rushed to the site of the accident, and medical teams provided first aid to the citizen before transporting him to a major trauma center.

After initial information indicated the seriousness of his condition, the London Police later confirmed that the Saudi citizen was receiving treatment, and that the injuries he sustained did not pose a threat to his life.

Circulating video clips showed a security and medical alert at the scene of the accident, while paramedics appeared providing care to the injured person before transporting him to the hospital.

Police arrested a 58-year-old suspect at the scene of the incident, for causing serious bodily harm, possession of a sharp weapon, and attempted robbery by force.

The suspect was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries, while the police continue their investigations to uncover the circumstances of the incident.

For its part, the Saudi Embassy in the United Kingdom confirmed that it is keenly following the citizen’s condition, coordinating with the competent British authorities to provide him with the necessary care and support, and following up on his health condition until he is discharged from the hospital in good health and safety.

The embassy stressed the importance of expediting the completion of investigations, revealing all details of the incident, holding those responsible accountable in accordance with the law, and taking the necessary measures to enhance the safety of citizens and visitors in public places.

The Saudi Embassy called on male and female citizens in Britain to exercise caution and avoid carrying valuables in public places, at a time when British investigations are continuing to reveal the full details of the incident.
