Taoyuan Mayor Chang Shan-cheng listened to the special report on the "Opening Project - Small Projects, Big Benefits" by the Works Bureau and the Transportation Bureau this afternoon (15th) and said that the city government has actively promoted road widening and opening up bottlenecks in recent years. Among them, projects such as "Qingshan Road to Wenhua 1st Road" and "Chenggong Second Bridge" have successfully overcome many years of engineering obstacles. Improving road bottlenecks not only requires financial investment, but also relies on cross-bureau teams to use innovative thinking and engineering expertise to overcome challenges such as technology and land acquisition, continue to improve the road network, and improve the quality of public transportation.
Zhang Shanzheng pointed out that the "Qingshan Road to Wenhua 1st Road" project has troubled the local area for more than ten years. In the past, it was limited by the terrain height difference, and it was always difficult to break through the road design. This time, the city government team flexibly adjusted the road configuration, used adjacent green space to overcome the height difference problem, and successfully solved the bottleneck for many years. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in October this year, demonstrating the results of the city government team's long-term coordination and innovative engineering thinking.
Director of Works Wang Zaizhou said that land acquisition is an important key to promoting road projects. In the early stage of the "new construction project of extending the outer section of Longci Road to Provincial Route 66", there was no land funding, so the road fund was used to advance the project, and then the city government coordinated and allocated funds to support it. It took about one and a half years to complete the land acquisition, and construction started in December 2023. The engineering team continued to adjust the design based on the current site height difference and road connection conditions, and finally broke through the engineering limitations.
Wang Zaizhou mentioned that in response to Taoyuan's population growth and increasing traffic demand, the city government has promoted the "Opening Project" since 2016 to develop and widen road bottlenecks and congested road sections, and improve related traffic and pedestrian facilities. So far, 235 projects have been completed. The average annual execution volume has increased from 23 cases from 2016 to 2022 to 35 cases from 2023 to this year. It is expected to promote 65 cases this year. Through resource integration, improving management efficiency and accelerating land acquisition, road bottlenecks will continue to be solved.
The Public Works Bureau pointed out that recent projects such as the Chenggong Second Bridge, Guoqiang 1st Street to Wenzhong Road, the widening of Wenqing Road and Qingshan Road, and the new construction of Wenhua 1st Street to Qingshan Road have continued to advance. Among them, China Qiang 1st Street to Wenzhong Road will connect existing roads, disperse the traffic flow of Longan Street and Shanghai Road, add pedestrian and traffic safety facilities, and simultaneously handle underground pipelines to improve the overall traffic quality.
Transportation Secretary Zhang Xinfu said that the city government accurately planned road improvement plans through traffic simulation and peak traffic flow analysis. After the Chenggong Second Bridge is completed, it is estimated that the service level of the Chenggong Land Bridge, the third section of Chenggong Road and the five-way intersection of Sanmin Road will be improved from F to D. In the Guishan A7 area, in response to the peak congestion problem of Wenqing Road and Qingshan Road, the traffic flow will be dispersed by adding special left-turn lanes, road widening and new construction. After the improvement, the service level of some road sections can be improved from F to B or even A.
