"My Family is Safe" operation in Ankara: 5 trans women arrested

5 trans women who were detained within the scope of the operations carried out under the name "My Family is Safe" in Ankara were arrested.

The judicial interrogations of 14 members of the management and auditing board of Kaos GL and journalist Tuğba Tekerek have not yet started.

Kaos GL's board of directors and supervisory board members and journalist Tuğba Tekerek were referred to the criminal judgeship of peace on duty with a request for arrest following their statements to the prosecutor's office.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaos GL Association's management and supervisory board members, including reserves, were detained during police raids on their homes on September 13.

21 people detained in Ankara were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the Police Station. While the prosecutor's office referred 20 of the 21 people to the criminal judgeship of peace on duty with a request for arrest, one person was released due to repeated crime.

Journalist Tuğba Tekerek, who followed the Georgian elections and reported on the Kaos GL website, was among those referred to the judgeship with a request for arrest.

THE INVESTIGATION IS WITHIN THE SCOPE OF ACCUSES OF "OBSCENDING" AND OPPOSITION TO THE LAW ON ASSOCIATIONS

The investigation, in which 21 LGBTI+ activists were detained, is being carried out within the scope of accusations of "obscenity" and opposition to the Law on Associations. The Ministry of Justice announced that the investigation was carried out in 15 provinces within the scope of the "My Family is Safe" operation.
