At the policy meeting with the 9th popularly elected mayors and county mayors held at the provincial office on this day, Governor Lee emphasized, "In order to create an era where Daegu and Gyeongbuk are at the center, Daegu and Gyeongbuk must be integrated to transfer the authority of the central government, and with that authority, the new airport, Yeongilman Port, and all cities and counties must be connected by railroads and highways."

He also explained, "In the future, when robots and machines work instead of people, we must focus on nurturing talent related to the knowledge industry as people will do creative work. In preparation for an era where robots do work and people eat and enjoy, we need to develop the food industry, culture and arts, and tourism sectors that the region can excel in. To this end, we are preparing many facilities such as hotels, resorts, and golf courses."

He continued to emphasize the need for integration, saying, "We need to foster these fields to create an era in which people from around the world flock, and to do that, we need to connect all regions in the province with railroads. However, railroads are all government affairs, so we need to integrate Daegu and Gyeongbuk and take over these national affairs, taxes, finances, etc. and take the lead in doing things."

At the same time, he asked elected mayors and county governors to devote themselves to carrying out these tasks.

Governor Lee said, “We need to create an era where Gyeongbuk becomes the center of the country again and the region becomes the owner, but it all rests on the shoulders of the elected mayors and county mayors,” and added, “We will provide as much support as possible so that cities and counties can do things as they want.”
