Norwegian trail running runner Ida Amelie Robsahm dies

The world of trail running once again dresses in mourning for the death of one of its exponents. This Monday the death of Ida Amelie Robsahm, a 30-year-old Norwegian runner who lost her life after falling more than a dozen meters while on Romsdalseggen, a well-known mountainous running route in her native country, was announced.

Robsahm was being one of the standout athletes in the European cross country season. In May he competed in the well-known Zegama-Aizkorri alpine marathon, where he achieved fourth position. Just a month later she won a medal in the Marathon du Mont-Blanc, and in August she placed fifth in the OCC, one of the most notable events on the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) calendar.

The runner, who had also left great records off the mountain, going under two hours and 30 minutes in the last Valencia marathon, had a good knowledge of the area where the tragic incident occurred, according to her coach, Sindre Buraas.

Emergency services, according to local media, responded by helicopter to the accident area, although Robsahm's death was confirmed a few minutes later.

Knowing the terrain and having experience running through the Romsdalseggen represents an even greater setback for the Norwegian environment. Her ASICS teammate, Sara Alonso, dedicated a few words to her as a farewell.
