Family home parent detained on suspicion of child rape

The man was arrested this week at the Umeå District Court on suspicion of rape against a child and serious breach of child protection.

According to documents that SVT has seen, for several years the man has been a stay-at-home father to three children, together with his partner.

Chamber prosecutor Jennifer Piironen believes that the investigation is at an early stage.

- Due to the nature of the case and preliminary investigation confidentiality, I do not want to comment on the case, she says.

What happens to the children now?

- I cannot comment on that, says Jennifer Piironen.

Is it about one or more children living at the man's house?

- It is not something I can comment on, says the prosecutor.

The children who are placed in a family home with the couple are in their teens. The oldest child has been taken into care according to the LVU.

SVT has been in contact with Social Services in Umeå municipality, which has no information about the case.

- Within a month, I will decide whether to bring charges or lift the arrest, says prosecutor Jennifer Piironen.
