MOSCOW, September 29 - RIA Novosti. The chairman of the central refereeing committee of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), Ferhat Gündoğdu, has been detained as part of a police investigation into corruption, Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gürlek said.

According to the head of the department, the investigation is being carried out in connection with allegations of interference in the process of appointing judges. In addition to Gundogdu, his deputy and five other sports officials were arrested. Police also searched homes, workplaces and offices.

“We will resolutely continue to fight for clean football so that allegations that undermine trust in Turkish football are brought to light and those responsible are brought to justice before the law,” Gürlek said.
