Significant developments have taken place 11 years later in the investigation into the armed attack on the bus carrying the Fenerbahçe football team in Trabzon's Sürmene district on April 4, 2015. In the investigation, which was reopened in line with new evidence, the suspects' phone calls, base station records, footprints and criminal findings were examined. In the indictment prepared, it was evaluated that the attack was planned in advance, and a penalty was requested for 5 suspects, including detainees, for the crime of attempted murder against 39 people.
NEW EVIDENCE IN THE ATTACK 11 YEARS AGO
The bus with plate number 53 DE 618, carrying the Fenerbahçe team returning from Çaykur Rizespor away game, was opened fire with a hunting rifle at the viaduct location in Soğuksu District of Sürmene district on April 4, 2015. While bus driver Ufuk Kıran was seriously injured in the attack, the football players and the technical staff were in great danger.
The decision that there was no need for additional prosecution, made in 2020 within the scope of the investigation, was lifted in 2026 upon new evidence obtained. After the investigation was expanded, a 12-folder evidence file was prepared and the indictment was sent to Trabzon High Criminal Court.
"I WAS AT HOME" DEFENSE CONTRADICTED BASE RECORDINGS
In the investigation of the prosecutor's office on digital data from the night of the incident, it was determined that the communication traffic of the suspects Yusuf Ö., Hakan H., Emiral A., Özgür E. and Özden R. K. reached its peak at 22.18 when the attack took place.
In the indictment, it was noted that the base station records did not match the statements of Yusuf Ö., who claimed that he was at home on the evening of the incident. As a result of examining the data of 54 different base stations received from the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK), it was determined that the suspect gave a signal from the base station in Sürmene Yemişli District, where the football players and technical team personnel on the team bus also received the signal before the attack.
In addition, it was determined that the shoe print on the path leading to the point where the attack was carried out was compatible with the route of Yusuf Ö.'s residence.
IT WAS EVALUATED THAT THE ATTACK WAS PLANN IN PRIOR
The indictment included the assessment that the attack on the bus carrying the Fenerbahçe team could not have been carried out randomly and that the action was planned in advance.
Suspects Hakan H., Emiral A. and Özgür E. acted as lookouts, following the passage of the bus, and Yusuf Ö. It was stated that he conveyed information to Özden and R.K.
A 12-gauge supercharged hunting rifle used in the incident was seized in Devran Creek, approximately 130 meters away from the attack point. In the criminal investigation, it was determined that the bus was opened with a rifle that fired large pellets, from a distance of approximately 40 meters, within the effective range of the gun.
ACCUSED OF ATTEMPT TO MURDER AGAINST 39 PERSONS
In the indictment, it was evaluated that the attackers acted with intent to kill because both shots were directed directly at the driver's side of the bus and Ufuk Kıran's head area.
It was pointed out that if the driver of the bus, which was traveling at high speed, was shot, the vehicle could roll into the ditch or into the sea, and it was stated that the attack was not only aimed at the driver, but also all 39 people on the bus.
The indictment prepared against 5 people, including the detained suspects, for the crimes of "premeditated attempted murder" and "damage to property" was sent to the Trabzon High Criminal Court.
