Quick Look

AI-generated summary

Why It Matters

Polsat News.

Columbia University professor: Trump's impeachment is possible only with a record Democratic victory in the congressional elections

To successfully impeach US President Donald Trump, Democrats need to win a record victory in the November congressional elections, since in the Senate they lack 20 seats to achieve the required 67 votes (two-thirds), and in the House of Representatives a simple majority (218 votes) is enough. Professor Robert Shapiro from Columbia University noted that previous attempts at impeachment against US presidents (Johnson, Clinton, Trump) ended in acquittals by the Senate.
