Feijóo commits to reforming the educational system after the PISA report and proposes vetoing screens in classrooms

The president of the Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, met this week with the Education Councilors of his party to analyze the results of the PISA 2025 report and has committed to undertaking a reform of the educational system after describing as "a resounding failure" the impact of the law promoted by the Government of Pedro Sánchez, whose data has placed Spain below the average of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

In this framework, Feijóo has highlighted his party's proposal to eliminate individual devices and screens in classrooms, at least until the Secondary Education stage, arguing that these tools do not improve learning at the earliest ages and harm the attention span of students.

In this regard, the popular leader has indicated that rigorous pedagogical work requires clearly determining when it is appropriate to establish limits within the school environment.

During the meeting, in which the regional officials agreed in pointing out that education constitutes "a matter of State", Feijóo stressed the need to promote legislative modifications based on evidence and not on ideological reforms.

Likewise, the popular councilors have opted to establish excellence in all training stages with the aim of promoting the intellectual development and future employability of students in the face of the management of the central Executive.

Among the priority measures, the PP leader has defended recovering the culture of evaluation, effort and merit, in addition to reinforcing fundamental learning in reading, writing and calculation. Likewise, he has called for restoring support and authority to teachers in schools and has advocated for ensuring that classrooms remain free of ideological slogans to teach students to think freely.
