Five people arrested on suspicion of terrorist crimes near British military base

It was on Sunday that five people were arrested on suspicion of terror offenses and explosives were found in a major police operation near one of Britain's main military air bases - a base that has also been used by the US in the Iran war.

Those arrested can be detained for up to 14 days before they have to be charged or released.

The tip that led to the operation came from a local farmer who called the police.

- When they saw me, they ran - some out into the field and others towards the neighboring village, she tells the BBC.

Those arrested are suspected of preparation for terrorist crimes and violations of the Explosive Substances Act. British counter-terrorism police are investigating whether there is a link to Tehran and the British government is so far cautious in its comments.

- When we can, we will tell the public more about these individuals and about this specific threat, Defense Minister Wes Streeting told Times Radio.

However, the US president nodded his head when asked by reporters if there is an Iran connection.

- You will hear all about it soon. We took them, he replied.

Trump also says that the arrests in southwest England were made in cooperation between the two countries and claims that "we knew everything about them (the suspected perpetrators)".

Tehran denies, via its embassy in London, that Iran would be involved in any way in the suspected terror plans.
