MOSCOW, September 10 - RIA Novosti. Several US military aircraft were damaged at the US Muwaffaq Salti airbase in Jordan as a result of Iranian strikes on Wednesday night, CBS journalist Jennifer Jacobs reports, citing sources.

Earlier, the US Central Command reported that the US military destroyed five Iranian tankers. The Iranian military then said that it attacked two American destroyers, as well as the American base in Jordan Al-Azraq. The Iranian television channel Press TV also reported on Wednesday night that the IRGC, during a retaliatory strike on a US base in Jordan, attacked the deployment and maintenance sites of F-35, F-16 and F-15 fighters.

“Several American military aircraft were damaged during night strikes (as of September 9 - ed.) at the US Muwaffaq Salti airbase in Jordan,” the CBS journalist wrote on the X social network.

As Jacobs noted, one American A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft was hit and lost a wing. Approximately eight F-15 fighters were slightly damaged and returned to service.

"U.S. forces in Jordan launched more than 30 Patriot missiles to defend against Iranian strikes. The overnight damage was the result of a U.S. attack on five Iranian tankers in response to an Iranian attack on a U.S. Navy warship," the journalist said in a statement.
