Son of police officer is shot during attempted robbery in São Luís

According to the father, his son's health condition is stable, despite the severity of the injuries. Eldimir Otávio Júnior stated that the young man has shown progress in his clinical condition and that his physical conditions have contributed to his recovery.

According to the father, his son was hit by three of the five shots fired by the criminal. The shots hit the chest area. After being shot, the student was rescued and taken to a private hospital located on Avenida Jerônimo de Albuquerque, where he remains receiving medical care.

The family reported that the costs of treatment are high, including hospitalization costs, medication and exams, and asked for support from anyone who can contribute.

According to information from witnesses passed on to the Civil Police, Eldimir Otávio Coelho Neto had just left training when he was approached by two criminals, who tried to steal the lanyard he was wearing.

According to reports, the victim had pushed one of the suspects during the approach. Then, the other robber fired five shots. Three shots hit the young man, two of which hit the abdomen, according to information released by the police.

Even though he was injured, Eldimir managed to walk to the gym entrance, where he received help from the establishment's regulars. He was taken to a private hospital at around 9:30 pm, underwent a surgical procedure and remains hospitalized.

The Maranhão Civil Police reported that the case is being investigated by the Robbery and Theft Police Station (DRF). Teams carried out investigations at the scene, interviewed witnesses and looked for images from security cameras that could help identify the perpetrators of the crime.

According to the police, the material gathered should help clarify the circumstances of the attempted robbery and contribute to the advancement of investigations. Witnesses must also testify.
