The former finance minister, now the financier, Anders Borg (M) fired the first shot. We are facing a fateful choice, he thundered on DN Debatt in August: In the event of a Tidö loss, taxes soar, the work line breaks down, an economic disaster awaits.
Since then, business leaders have lined up with their warnings. Spotify founder Martin Lorentzon threatens to leave the country. This weekend, Jacob Wallenberg, chairman of the Swedish Business Association, declared that he is "deeply concerned" about what happens in the event of a victory for the opposition.
It can of course look a bit like a coordinated campaign, a form of fire support for the horror message of a "left-wing smack" if Magdalena Andersson wins which forms the core of the Moderates' strategy.
But to dismiss them like that would be to diminish the entrepreneurial elite.
The fact is that, unlike M, they are not particularly afraid of Andersson in particular. It is the Left Party and the Green Party that scare them. And the idea that the S-leader should not be able to resist.
As for MP, it's honestly hard to understand the excitement. There is certainly talk of a billionaire tax that will bring in 50 billion. But the party was in government 2014–2021 and proved to be extremely pragmatic. The Greens agreed to everything from closed borders to extended nuclear power when the need and S demanded.
MP has its eyes above all on the climate - in a way that is in many respects in line with the business world. There, they also want clear goals and fixed rules of the game.
When it comes to Left parties, it is easier to understand the opposition. Nooshi Dadgostar pursues a crude populist economic policy. Not only billionaires but also ICA traders are regularly portrayed as swindlers and bandits. It's unsavory and a little dangerous.
It doesn't get any better when you look at the details. Pristak thinks Dadgostar is generally a good tool. She loves high taxes, but more worrying is V's idea that money basically grows on trees and that large deficits are not a problem.

But why should Nooshi Dadgostar get what she wants just because the opposition wins? You can accuse the soss of a lot, but not for lying flat for leftists.
Furthermore, it is not only S who determines how many of Dadgostar's proposals become reality. In principle, no measurements point towards a majority for S, V and MP. If the opposition wins, C will be needed. The most market-liberal party in the Riksdag.
Above all, it is not at all obvious that the four form the basis for government if the Tidö parties lose.

But the top business leaders understand this of course! They work a lot with "risk scenarios", as a financier who is thinking of sticking if the opposition wins states in Dagens Industri. They can count both kroner and mandates.
So the result of the outings from Wallenberg and company will reasonably be a targeted campaign against the Moderates: In the event of a loss, do the only right thing - make sure taxes are held back, nuclear power is built and the focus is on growth. Don't hide in opposition, but join in and take responsibility for the good of both the country and business.
