Caixa bank workers' strike continues after rejection of proposed agreement

According to the Bank Workers' Union of São Paulo, Osasco and Region, the strike is nationwide. At the entity's base, the assembly ended at 11pm this Friday (11), with 68% of votes against the proposal.

The text had been presented by Caixa after the resumption of negotiations with entities representing employees, in an attempt to end the strike.

The proposal provided, among other points, for a bonus of R$3,000 per employee, in addition to the payment, on September 18, of the adjusted salary, Profit Sharing (PLR), Super Caixa and the prize.

It was also planned to increase Caixa's participation limit in the funding of Saúde Caixa, an employee health care plan, from 6.5% to 8%. The benefit is among the main points of disagreement between workers and the bank.

Before the vote, Caixa informed that this would be its final proposal and that, if the workers did not approve the terms within the deadline, it could withdraw the offer and enter into a collective dispute, taking the negotiation to the Labor Court.

The bank had already informed that it maintained an open dialogue with the entities representing employees and that it had resumed negotiations in search of an agreement.

The strike began on Thursday (10), after workers rejected a previous proposal to renew the ACT.

According to the National Confederation of Financial Workers (Contraf-CUT), more than 90% of the union bases rejected the previous text presented by Caixa.

With the new rejection this Friday, the strike remains indefinite.
