Hadrien Brachet replaces Charles Sapin as political editorial of France Inter

Hadrien Brachet, journalist at Le Point, now takes charge of the political editorial at 7:40 a.m. on France Inter on Sundays, replacing Charles Sapin, head of the conservative magazine Valeurs Acteurs, whose presence on the airwaves had triggered a staff strike, the radio confirmed to AFP.

The first editorial by Hadrien Brachet, deputy political editor-in-chief of the weekly Le Point, was broadcast on Sunday morning. Charles Sapin announced on September 19 the end of his political editorial, two issues of which had been published, after his refusal to transform this weekly meeting into a debate.

Two days of strike in mid-September

Since the end of August, Radio France staff have opposed the recruitment of Charles Sapin, deputy editorial director of Valeurs Acteurs, arguing that this magazine, which claims to be conservative, carries far-right ideas and has been convicted in court, in particular for public insult of a racist nature. Two days of strike disrupted the broadcasts, on September 13 and 14.

The arrival of Charles Sapin had been justified by the management of the radio in the name of pluralism. This subject has agitated public broadcasting for a year, accusations of bias in favor of the left having motivated last year the creation of a parliamentary commission of inquiry by the UDR, a party allied to the National Rally.
