Hainan Free Trade Port Adopts Global Experience in Alternative-Energy Vehicles

HAIKOU, China, September 26. /TASS/. The Hainan Free Trade Port is actively adopting international experience in developing alternative-energy vehicles, Hainan Daily reported.

The newspaper highlighted Hainan’s successful cooperation with other countries in this field through multilateral formats. In particular, it noted productive exchanges at the World Congress on Alternative Energy Vehicles, held this week in Haikou, the capital of China’s southernmost province. The conference focused on modern urban development with an emphasis on environmentally friendly vehicles.

Participants from China and other countries presented strategic initiatives and effective methods for promoting low-carbon, sustainable transport development. They discussed key challenges countries face in successfully adopting green vehicles. Such cooperation is expected to promote the study of sought-after technologies and broader cross-sector cooperation.

Hainan authorities are pursuing a targeted policy to expand the green vehicle market and deepen international cooperation. The province is expected to strengthen its role as a major alternative-energy hub and contribute significantly to the global automotive industry’s low-carbon transition.

Fu Lu, CEO of Hainan Runxuan New Energy Technology, said Hainan is already introducing innovations to reduce costs through reliable quality standards for used green vehicles and advanced battery repair technologies. This will help regulate the market segment and sustain its growth.

Hainan will also hold various motor-sport events and promote research into green technologies. A second-tier international-standard race track is expected to be built and commissioned on the island in 2027 for competitions and testing of new-energy vehicles. This is expected to create a green automotive cluster spanning the entire market, from design and manufacturing to cultural and tourism projects.
