Cemil Kanat, a young athlete from Hakkari, became the European champion and aims for the world championship.

15-year-old Cemil Kanat, who was impressed by the training of his older brother, who was involved in kurash and judo in Hakkari, started doing judo 6 years ago.

Cemil, an 11th grade student who improved himself in judo and kurash with the support of his coaches, achieved significant success in the national and international organizations he participated in.

Cemil, who won various places in the regional and Turkish championships, came first in the Youth Türkiye Kurash Championship held in Zonguldak on 13-14 June.

Cemil Kanat, who qualified for the European Kurash Championship with this success, competed in the 46 kilo category in the organization held in Bulgaria on 11-14 September.

The young athlete, who became the European champion by beating his opponents in the first international organization of his career, wants to raise the Turkish flag by being successful in the world championship.

Cemil, who is a source of pride in the city with his achievements, continues his work at the gym of the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports under the management of his trainer Kübra Bayram.

"These achievements set an example for our younger brothers"

Cemil Kanat told the AA reporter that he started judo while following his older brother Şinasi Kanat to training.

Stating that he has been practicing judo and kurash for about 6 years, Cemil said:

"I worked constantly for the first two years. After that, I started going to the matches. I won places. I participated in the Turkish Kurash Championship in Zonguldak. I came first there. I had the chance to participate in the European Championship. I came first there too. I represented both our city and our country in the best way. It was a good atmosphere. We will work harder to go to more competitions abroad. Even though it was my first time participating, it was good. I waved our flag there. Our national anthem was played. It was a very good feeling. And from now on, too." "We will continue our efforts to fly our flag in the best possible way. My goal is to go to the world championship. I want to be a champion there too. These achievements set an example for our younger brothers. We are also interested in judo as a family."

Stating that they are waiting for the list to be announced for the world championship, Cemil Kanat stated that he wants to experience championships in judo and thanked Hakkari Governorship and the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports for their support.

Coach Kübra Bayram said that the athletes they train achieve success in national and international organizations every year.

Stating that they aim to reach more children in the city, Bayram said, "We are trying to add success to our success. I believe that our champion athletes are role models. Cemil first became the champion of Turkey and then achieved great success in Europe. If he is included in the list to be announced, we will see Cemil on the world stage. Our athlete is very ambitious. That is why I think he will reach good places. The achievements arouse curiosity in other children as well." he said.
