Croatia beat Czech Republic 2-1 in the UEFA Nations League

Croatia started the tournament with a victory by defeating the Czech Republic 2-1 away in the first match of the UEFA Nations League A League group stage.

Slaven Bilic took the field once again as the head coach of the Croatian National Team after 14 years.

NO GOAL SCORED IN THE FIRST HALF

The first half of the match, in which both teams played under the management of their new coaches, witnessed a controlled game.

While Croatia increased its pressure in the last part of the half, Luka Sucic's volley in the 23rd minute went narrowly out.

Although the guest team came close to scoring with Petar Sucic in the extra time of the first half, goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek did not allow the goal.

MODRIC OPENED THE CURTAIN

Croatia took the lead at the beginning of the second half.

Receiving the ball after Igor Matanovic intercepted the errant pass of the Czech defense, Luka Modric entered the penalty area and sent the ball into the net from the far corner with a hard shot.

CZECHIA REACHED EQUALITY

The home team converted one of the first serious opportunities into a goal.

Adam Karabec, who received the ball in the center of the penalty area from Adam Hlozek's pass, beat goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic with his shot and equalized the score.

PASALIC BROUGHT THE WIN

While the Czech Republic could not take advantage of an important opportunity with Matej Radosta, Croatia took the lead again in the last part of the match.

Marco Pasalic's header, rising to the back post after Ivan Perisic's cross, crossed the line despite goalkeeper Hornicek's intervention and the score became 2-1.

The Czech Republic scored once again with Radosta, but the goal was not considered valid due to offside at the beginning of the position.

The score did not change in the remaining part and Slaven Bilic won his first match with the Croatian National Team, which he took over again after 14 years, with a 2-1 victory.
