A 31-year-old man was arrested after sending threats to his ex-partner through bank transfers via Pix, in Cariacica, Greater Vitória. According to the victim, the suspect made around 50 transfers of a few cents in a single week.
The threatening messages were sent in the description of the payments that were sent to the victim.
The man was arrested on September 12, after records of non-compliance with a protective measure were gathered and forwarded to the Specialized Police Station for Women's Assistance (Deam) and the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Among the messages sent by the suspect were phrases such as "I hit you a little", "now you'll see", "I'm coming to do your job" and "I'm going to catch you".
The victim said she had blocked her ex-husband on social media and messaging apps, but he found another way to get in touch.
"Each Pix that arrived, my heart accelerated. Many transfers arrived. I couldn't block it. I tried to contact the bank and nothing", he reported.
Protective measure
The woman had a protective measure against the man since March this year. According to her, the document was requested after the suspect broke into her house and assaulted her.
"He hit my head on the ground, kicking, punching. I managed to get up and scream, that's when he kicked me and ripped my face open. I looked for the patrol and he was arrested. Then it all started again. It's been two months since he was released," he said.
After the new episodes of threat, the woman sought out the Specialized Women's Patrol, in Cariacica, and began to receive support from the team.
According to the head of the Women's Patrol, Maria Beatriz, all proof of transfers were registered and forwarded to the authorities responsible for the investigation.
"We, as a security institution, have our role and so does the victim. This monitoring takes place from the moment the women contact the Patrol's institutional telephone number", he explained.
According to the police officer, the team began monitoring the victim's routine to increase safety during everyday activities, such as commuting to work and public transport.
Prison
Records of non-compliance with the protective measure were gathered by the Specialized Women's Patrol and forwarded to the Specialized Women's Assistance Police Station and the Public Prosecutor's Office. Based on the documentation, an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect.
According to Maria Beatriz, the Judiciary considered the dangerousness of the case and authorized the arrest. The man was located and arrested on September 12th.
The victim stated that he hopes that his ex-partner remains in prison and that he can safely resume his routine. She also reported that one of the messages received said that, if he was arrested, the man would leave prison with more hatred and kill her.
"He needs to be locked up because I have two young children who depend on me," he said.
The Civil Police reported that the suspect was taken by the Municipal Guard to the Cariacica Regional Police Station. He was charged in the act for threat, in accordance with the Maria da Penha Law, and released to be released after paying the bail arbitrated by the police authority of the Central de Teleflagrante.
