Hong Kong tech hub receives six bids for inaugural land tender

Hong Kong’s flagship technology hub at the border received six bids from conglomerates and hi-tech firms for its inaugural land tender by the deadline on Monday, underscoring investors’ high expectations and confidence in the sites, its operator said.

Following the close of the tender opened in June, the Loop Hong Kong Park Company, which operates the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park (HSITP), said it received strong interest for four land parcels earmarked for innovation and technology, and talent accommodation.

The bidders for the parcels – with a combined gross floor area exceeding 76,000 square metres – included high-end innovation and technology industries and large conglomerates, it said.

“The enthusiastic response to this inaugural tender shows the industry’s full recognition of Hong Kong’s strengths in innovation and technology, as well as its confidence and high expectations for the park’s development,” the operator said.

It added that the site sale used a weighted “two-envelope” scoring system, allocating 70 per cent to technical proposals and 30 per cent to financial offers.

The operator said this framework encourages developers to submit forward-looking blueprints that bridge scientific research with commercial applications across the entire supply chain.

Successful bidders will be responsible for the design, construction, financing and management of the relevant sites, including the accommodation facilities. Winning bids are expected to be announced in October.
