Threatening person caused evacuation of Nora municipal building

It was at 10 o'clock on Monday that a threatening person entered the municipal hall in Nora. The person had with him something that the staff suspected was a flammable liquid.

- The person had a container and wanted to make a statement, there was never any real danger, but they wanted to take the safe before the unsafe and evacuated the premises, says Daniel Tausis, communications strategist at Nora municipality.

About half an hour later, the staff were back in their seats and able to continue working.

The union: "Several incidents over time"

During Tuesday, the safety officer decided on a so-called protective stop, which in this case means that the entrance door is kept locked. The municipality has ordered a camera so that in future the staff can see who is calling and wants to come in. The camera is expected to be in place in about a week.

- There have been several incidents over time. For us, it's about securing the work environment for those who work in the municipal building, but also for those who visit the business, says Kristine Andersson, chief safety officer in Nora municipality.

The person has threatened more people

According to information to SVT, the threatening person is the same person who caused the ambulance in Nora to change premises, something that Nerike's allehanda reported on last summer. And at the health center in Nora, they have recently had security guards to create security.

For the municipality, there have been situations surrounding the person since last autumn and several times the police have been involved. The municipality has also reported the person to the police several times.

According to the municipal director in Nora, Christina Landoff, the municipality, the region and the police are working together on the person.

- We have close cooperation regarding the handling and have had coordination meetings a number of times. After all, we have new social legislation that allows us to work in a different way now and find a common road map, she says.
