HSV loses home game against Mainz 0:5

Hamburger SV lost the first home game of the Bundesliga season against 1. FSV Mainz 05. The game ended with a comfortable 5-0 win for the guests. The goals were scored by Sheraldo Becker, Phillipp Mwene and Phillip Tietz, who scored twice, as well as former HSV professional Ransford Königsdörffer.

Hamburg didn't get a shot on goal in the entire first half. The guests from Mainz dominated the game for a long time. After a bad pass from Hamburg captain Nicolai Remberg, Kaishu Sano got to the ball and made a deep pass for Becker, who was charging towards the goal. Alone in front of Hamburg goalkeeper Daniel Heuer-Fernandes, Becker gave Mainz the lead in the 19th minute. In the 41st minute it was Becker who sprinted down the right side and set up for Mwene, who just had to hold out his foot shortly before the goal.

After the break, the hosts made three changes. Jordan Torunarigha, Martin Adeline, Bilal Nadir were replaced by Shafiq Nandja, Patson Daka and Fábio Vieira. Tietz increased again for Mainz in the 48th minute. Again it was Becker who provided the assist. The hosts also had shots on goal in the second half. However, the guests from Mainz still had the game under control. Tietz scored for the second time in the 83rd minute. In the first minute of injury time, former Hamburg player Ransford Königsdörffer scored the final score.
