Eight Muslim countries condemn Israeli refusal of Trump plan for Gaza

No end of conflict in sight in the Middle East. Eight Muslim countries condemned, on Sunday, August 16, the "Israeli refusal" to pursue American President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza.

The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates condemned, in a joint statement published by the Saudi agency SPA, "the open Israeli refusal of the road map aimed at continuing the implementation of American President Donald Trump's global plan to end the conflict in Gaza", and "the Israeli refusal of the creation of a Palestinian state". This “profoundly compromises”, according to them, “the collective efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace”.

This joint statement comes as the American president's envoy, Jared Kushner, is currently in Egypt and is due to visit Israel soon in order to resolve differences between Israel and Hamas over the implementation of Donald Trump's plan. The Islamist movement gave its agreement at the end of July to an American road map, supposed to launch the second stage of the plan, providing for the disarmament of the Islamist movement and the Israeli withdrawal from Palestinian territory. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially rejected the text, demanding “real” disarmament of Hamas.
