IBSF will hold an extraordinary congress on October 27 on the issue of the return of Russian athletes

The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) will hold an extraordinary congress on October 27, at which it will consider the issue of the return of Russian athletes to competitions under the auspices of the organization. This was reported by Sport-Express with reference to the press service of the Russian Bobsleigh Federation.

The Congress will be held online. The issue will be presented to the IBSF member federations for discussion and decision. The necessary materials will be sent to participants before the congress.

The second item on the agenda of the extraordinary congress will be the financial situation of the organization.

“As follows from the invitation, this issue will be presented to the IBSF member federations for discussion and decision. The necessary materials will be sent to the participants before the congress,” the Russian Federation said in a statement.

In July 2022, IBSF Congress delegates voted to suspend Russian bobsledders and skeleton athletes from international competitions indefinitely. On October 19, 2025, the organization's appeals tribunal partially overturned the ban, allowing the admission of athletes with individual neutral status. In December, nine Russian athletes received neutral status.
