Como wins their first historic Champions League match by beating Leipzig 4-1

It couldn't have started better than this. It is Como, in its first historic match in the Champions League, the first Italian team to win in this edition, the only one that managed to take the three points at the first try, in an evening that will remain in the memory of the Sinigaglia stadium and of the Como fans. But also in that of Cesc Fabregas and his players thanks to a success achieved with a spectacular match, which saw Como show off its trademark, aggressive, fast play, lots of quality and many goals.

There are four Champions League debutants in Como's starting line-up and among them there is also Tasos Douvikas. He won the vote at the center of the attack with Kean.

Fabregas faithfully brings the formation proposed in the first days of the championship back to Europe, with Milla returning to midfield together with Da Cunha, after resting in Genoa. The signal is clear, Como wants to continue to be itself always, in any competition.

Intentions and choices that the field rewards immediately. It's an aggressive Como right from the start. Leipzig tries to put their heads out there, but Fabregas' team only takes a quarter of an hour to score their first European goal. The signature is that of Baturina, the absolute star of the first part of the match, and the starting point is from Douvikas who puts the ball in the middle from the right, the defense intervenes badly, with Baku who clears it short. And Baturina is ready to score. Sinigaglia explodes, Como loads up and takes up more and more space, with quality exchanges and speedy incursions: Paz, Diao and Douvikas show up in the net area. The German reaction was there, but essentially it was limited to a great shot by Maksimovic on which Butez intervened very well in the 34th minute. Shortly after, however, Como doubled their lead. With Baturina returning the favor to Douvikas, launching him centrally. And the Greek's goal also arrives.

The beginning of the second half seems to have a different script. Leipzig kept control of the game for a few minutes, and also created a dangerous opportunity with a free kick from Raum that no one exploited ahead of Butez. But it is Como who scores again, a splendid incursion with Douvikas who launches Paz, who in turn serves Diao, quick to slip into the German defense and tap into the net. Debut goal for him too. And two minutes later Da Cunha also came close to the net, concluding another beautiful team effort just wide. A celebration that Leipzig interrupted only for a few moments four minutes later, when Maksimovic struck Butez from outside the area.

The substitutions begin and some strategies change, Como switches to a 5-4-1 which leaves a little more space for Leipzig. The Germans didn't give up, collecting a few corners and giving Butez some shivers. But the great opportunity still belongs to Como with Kean who launches Paz, his shot goes wide, a sensational action in the 37th minute. And Paz again delivers a perfect assist for Perrone in the 90th minute. It is the goal of poker and the definitive seal on a well-deserved victory, in a truly exciting scenario.
