How much will a teacher earn in 2027? Here are the details

The amount of teachers' salaries depends on the level of professional promotion, length of service, qualifications and numerous allowances. Here are the projected base salaries in 2027 for teachers with a master's degree and pedagogical preparation:

- Beginner teacher – PLN 5,467 gross (an increase of PLN 159)

- Appointed teacher – PLN 5,633 gross (an increase of PLN 164)

- Certified teacher – PLN 6,589 gross (an increase of PLN 192)

For comparison, in 2026 these rates were PLN 5,308, PLN 5,469 and PLN 6,397 gross, respectively.

Inflation versus price increases

According to government forecasts, inflation in 2027 is expected to amount to 2.5 percent and the nominal increase in the average salary in the economy - 5.6 percent. This means that teachers' salaries are growing slower than the average earnings in the country.

Trade unionists have no doubt: this is not enough to stop the outflow of staff from the profession and attract young teachers.

Will pay rises stop the staffing crisis?

Experts warn that symbolic increases will not solve the problems of Polish schools. There is still a shortage of thousands of teachers, and many of those left are supplementing their pensions.

The Polish Teachers' Union calls for real changes and higher salaries that will help attract new generations of teachers.

Wages at universities have gone up

Academic teachers at public universities can count on higher salaries. From the beginning of 2026, the minimum basic salary of a professor at a public university has increased to PLN 9,650 gross per month (previously it was PLN 9,370). On this basis, the minimum rates for other positions were also calculated:

- University professor – PLN 8,009.50 gross

- Assistant professor – PLN 7,044.50 gross

- Other positions (at least 50% of the professor's salary) – PLN 4,825 gross
