An acceptance ceremony will be held for the first HÜRKUŞ-II aircraft on September 28.

A ceremony for the acceptance of the first HÜRKUŞ-II aircraft will be held on September 28 at the Kahramankazan facilities of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI). Deliveries of the aircraft will continue throughout the rest of the year.

HÜRKUŞ-II, which has become the best in its class with the flight performance data obtained through improvements and developments based on user feedback, has achieved a high localization rate.

It is anticipated that more than 250 new generation basic training aircraft will be needed in international markets as well as in the Turkish Armed Forces. It is aimed to continue the export success achieved with previous configurations in the HÜRKUŞ program with HÜRKUŞ-II, and to turn this expectation into export contracts with several countries in a short time.

The first link of the national aircraft chain

HÜRKUŞ-II is at the first step of Türkiye's manned fighter aircraft development chain. Following the new generation basic trainer aircraft, Türkiye will complete this chain with the jet trainer HÜRJET and the multi-role fighter aircraft KAAN.

HÜRKUŞ-II will be at the beginning of the pilot candidate's transition chain from basic training to jet training and eventually to a fighter jet. Pilots will improve their basic flying and piloting skills with HÜRKUŞ-II.

With this project, Türkiye has largely built its aircraft development ecosystem. With the HÜRKUŞ project, Türkiye has become able to design and produce its own modern aircraft. During the development of HÜRKUŞ, TAI and the domestic industry gained numerous design, production, testing and certification capabilities. The talents of the companies in the ecosystem were reflected in HÜRKUŞ-II.

These gains were transferred to other manned air platforms, especially HÜRJET and KAAN, in the long term.

Prepared for the mission with 300 sorties

The New Generation Basic Training Aircraft (Hürkuş-B / YNTEU) Contract was signed between the Presidency of Defense Industries and TAI on 26 December 2013. With subsequent contract changes, the work evolved into HÜRKUŞ-II.

HÜRKUŞ-II made its first flight on December 29, 2024. Within the scope of operational test and evaluation activities, Pilot Ground Training, Pilot Flight Training, Operational Test and Evaluation activities were successfully carried out this year.

Within the scope of the project, approximately 300 sorties were carried out for 2256 test points within the scope of development, certification and qualification flight tests, and the tests were successfully completed and the Type Certificate was received on September 9, 2026.

Following the training of the pilots and maintenance teams, the first acceptance phase of the aircraft has been reached.
