Arson at Nelson Mandela high school in Nantes

A crying student hugs her friend. In front of the Nelson Mandela high school, in Nantes, there is astonishment. “Wesh, our high school burned,” exclaim high school students arriving in front of a partially burned school building. At 9:15 a.m. this Thursday morning, firefighters and CRS were still present on site. An hour earlier, a fire spread inside this international high school located on the island of Nantes, and inaugurated in 2014. On their phones, the young people watched with emotion immense flames of around ten meters in the entrance hall.

Staff working inside were evacuated early. “From 8 a.m., we saw flames coming in,” says a final year boarder, who does not know the state of her room. However, she learned that one of her friends' house burned down. The self would also have been affected. One thing is certain, it was an “arson”, according to the deputy principal, who spoke to AFP.
