Israeli Attacks on Gaza Appear in Google Maps Satellite Images

The heavy damage caused by the Israeli army's bombardments of the Gaza Strip since October 2023 was reflected in the updated satellite images of Google Maps.

Google added extensive high-resolution satellite imagery covering much of southern Gaza starting in early 2026.

A total area of ​​235 km² was imaged from January and February. Satellite images where the destruction caused by Israel in Gaza are clearly visible include the Tel Al Sultan District of Rafah city.

The destruction of Şifa Hospital can also be clearly seen in the images.

Due to Israeli attacks, nearly 90 percent of the buildings in Gaza, where approximately 2.4 million Palestinians live, were destroyed.

In Gaza, where the infrastructure has also been destroyed, thousands of Palestinians struggle to survive in tents because they have no place to stay.

Rafah, where residents were forcibly displaced, is still under Israeli occupation.

In the images, it is clearly seen that large areas where previously dense settlements were located have been completely turned into rubble, thousands of buildings have been destroyed and neighborhoods have been erased from the map and turned into piles of stones.

It is noteworthy in satellite photographs that not a single building remains standing in Rafah, south of Gaza, which hosted more than 270 thousand Palestinians in October 2023.

The terrible extent of the destruction in Gaza City, which has the highest population density in the Gaza Strip, is also reflected in satellite photographs.
