Among the filmmakers who expressed their solidarity with the directors of the NAZA documentary, Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, are Liran Atzmor, Nadav Lapid, Orna Ben Dor, Netalie Braun, Rani Blair, Hagai Levi, Shai Carmeli-Pollak and Shlomi Elkabetz.
In the statement, which called on Israelis to watch the documentary before making a decision about the allegations about NAZA, "We, as filmmakers and creators, call on everyone who is still fighting for freedom of expression and freedom of art to support and show solidarity with Rachel Szor and Yuval Abraham, the creators of the film NAZA." expressions were used.
The statement emphasized that "an unprecedented smear and provocation campaign has been carried out against NAZA's directors, going to the extent of legitimizing violence and physically threatening their lives" and included the following statements:
"The fundamental duty of art and journalism is to hold up a mirror to the society they exist in and to create an environment for discourse and discussion without privileging anyone, no matter how difficult the facts are.
Even if we put aside the violent provocations directed at Abraham and Szor on social media, we find it appropriate to strongly condemn the filmmakers, academics and journalists who chose to criticize the NAZA movie without watching it!”
It was stated that the fact that some Israeli filmmakers and writers also participated in the attitude of populist politicians against NAZA directors paved the way for Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar's threats to revoke the citizenship of Szor and Abraham.
