Cuba's Sanction Reaction to the USA: 7 Thousand Containers Are Held in Ports

In his statement on the social media platform of US-based company X, Rodriguez made evaluations regarding the US sanctions targeting the Cuban economy and foreign trade. Arguing that the Washington administration is putting pressure on international shipping companies, Rodriguez noted that for this reason, 7 thousand containers, whose contracts were previously made and paid for, are kept waiting in various ports of the world.

Stating that most of the containers in question contained food, medicine and medical supplies, Rodriguez stated that preventing them from reaching Cuba was part of the "collective punishment" imposed by the USA on the Cuban people.

Reacting to Washington's economic sanctions and pressure on the country's foreign trade, Rodriguez said, "US threats, pressures and blackmail have disrupted Cuba's foreign trade, leading to devastating humanitarian crimes." he said.

THE CUBAAN ECONOMY IS ON THE EDGE OF THE CLASS

According to national media, the Cuban economy is estimated to shrink by more than 15 percent in the 2020-2025 period. The oil blockade initiated by the USA at the beginning of the year and the secondary sanctions imposed on key sectors of the economy since May further deepened the economic fragility in the country.

While Cubans are having a hard time due to power outages and the almost complete halt of public transportation, hospitals can only provide minimal services. Food and medicine prices, especially in unregistered markets, have risen to exorbitant levels. International experts called on the international community to take urgent action to prevent the emergence of a "silent Gaza" situation on the island.
