Tenant horror in Maltepe, Istanbul: Killed the landlord and his wife

The argument between the landlord and the tenant in Istanbul Maltepe ended in bloodshed. Tenant Mehmet T. opened fire with a gun on the landlord Osman Akyol and his wife Nursen Akyol and the lawyer Emir Ali S. who was at the scene. While the homeowner and his wife, who were the targets of the bullets, died at the scene, the seriously injured lawyer was taken to the hospital. The attacker, Mehmet T., was taken into custody.

The incident in Istanbul took place around 13.10 in Maltepe district, Gülsuyu District, Taşocağı Street. According to the news of Habertürk reporter Mustafa Şekeroğlu, the argument that broke out between the landlord and the tenant for an unknown reason quickly turned into a fight.

Tenant Mehmet T., who is stated to have 3 records of threats and insult crimes, opened fire on the landlord Osman Akyol, his wife Nursen Akyol and Lawyer Emir Ali S. with the gun he had with him.

Osman and his wife Nursen Akyol died at the scene of the armed attack. Lawyer Emir Ali S., who was seriously injured, was hospitalized and treated after the first intervention of the medical teams dispatched to the region.

After the incident, Mehmet T.'s armed attack continued. The suspect also opened fire on the police and 112 Emergency Medical teams who came to the area. Thereupon, Special Operations teams were dispatched to the region. Mehmet T., who was neutralized as a result of the intervention of Special Operations police, was caught alive and taken into custody. A large-scale investigation was launched into the incident.

In the statement made by the Istanbul Governorship, it was said: "In the incident that took place on Thursday, 10.09.2026, at around 13.10 in Maltepe District Gülsuyu District Taşocağı Street, the argument between the landlord and the tenant turned into a fight.

The injured person was taken to the hospital and treated by the medical teams who arrived at the scene.

Mehmet T., who carried out the armed attack, continued to open fire on the police and 112 medical teams in the area after the incident. The suspect was neutralized by the Special Operations teams in the area and taken into custody alive. "An investigation has been launched into the incident."
