Itabirito defeats Minas Brasília and advances to the final of the Brazilian Women's Series A2

Itabirito is in the final of Series A2 (second division) of the Brazilian Women's Football Championship. This Sunday morning (6), Gatas do Mato thrashed Minas Brasília 4-0 at Arena do Jacaré, in Sete Lagoas (MG), in the return game of the semifinal clash. TV Brasil broadcast the duel live.

In the first meeting, last week, the teams finished 1-1 at Bezerrão, in Gama (DF), also broadcast live on TV Brasil. Playing at home, Itabirito didn't take long to take the lead. In the 13th minute, striker Bruna Victória took the ball from Suzana on the left inside the area and crossed for midfielder Verônica to complete.

In the second half, Bruna Marques scored a great goal to bring Gatas do Mato closer to the decision. At five, the attacker received the ball at the edge of the area and dribbled past the flanks Rhayssa and Suzana and goalkeeper Rubi before sending it into the net.

At 14, defender Hilary Vergara took a lateral kick from the right, at Verônica's feet. In the area, she turned to leave defender Rayane's marking and rolled for midfielder Luana Rodrigues to finish in the corner and score the third. And the Minas Gerais team extended their lead in the 29th minute, with striker Jú Faria, who was launched in a counterattack, escaped Rubi and shot into the empty goal.

Minas still scored two minutes later. In an individual play on the right, striker Rayla entered the area and shot low, into goalkeeper Marcelle's left corner. The Brasilienses launched an attack, but there was no time to reverse the score.

I can't wait

Classified, Itabirito awaits the definition of the other finalist. This Monday (7), Vasco takes on Atlético-PI at the Luso-Brasileiro Stadium, in Rio de Janeiro, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), with live broadcast on TV Brasil.

Cruzmaltino has a good advantage, as they won the first game, on August 28th, 4-1 at the Lindolfo Monteiro Stadium, in Teresina. The Cariocas will advance even if they lose by two goals. The Piauí team needs to win by four or more goals in normal time. In the event of a tie between the scores of the two matches, the place in the final will be decided on penalties.

It is worth remembering that the four semifinalists of the Brasileirão A2 - Vasco, Atlético-PI, Itabirito and Minas Brasília - guaranteed access to the Series A1 (first division), which will have 20 clubs in 2027. The quartet will replace the relegated Vitória and Botafogo.
