Operation on an illegal cigarette factory in Izmir: 125 million TL worth of products were seized!

The Ministry of Commerce announced that a large number of machines and smuggled tobacco products were seized during the operation carried out on the factory that was determined to be illegally producing tobacco and tobacco products in the Kemalpaşa district of Izmir.

While it was stated that the total customs value of the seized materials was 125 million 480 thousand liras, 1 suspect was detained regarding the incident.

In the written statement made by the Ministry of Commerce, the following statements were used:

"Within the scope of the work carried out by the Special Team for Combating Tobacco and Tobacco Products Smuggling operating within the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement of the Ministry of Commerce, a new one has been added to the anti-smuggling activities. In line with the work of the special team, an operation was carried out on a factory that was found to be carrying out illegal production in the Kemalpaşa district of Izmir, with the participation of the Izmir Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams.

Within the scope of the operation carried out; 2 macaron manufacturing machines, 2 macaron packaging machines, 580 thousand branches of tubing without banderol, 14 million 868 thousand filter rods, 10 thousand 190 coils of cigarette paper, 18 pallets of tubing boxes were seized.

While the machines used in the production and packaging of macarons were seized during the operation, it was determined that the total customs value of the seized goods was 125 million 480 thousand TL. "As a result of the operation, one suspect was detained, and the investigation into the incident continues at the Kemalpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office."
