Former mayor of Izmir, Burhan Özfatura, passed away.

Burhan Özfatura, who served as mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality between 1984-1989 and 1994-1999, passed away at the age of 83. A funeral ceremony was held for Özfatura at Balçova Niyazi Uğur Mosque. Deputy Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Dr. attended the ceremony. Zafer Levent Yıldır, members of parliament, district mayors, many names from Izmir's politics and urban life, and Özfatura's family and loved ones attended.

HE WAS SENDED OFF WITH PRAYERS

After the noon prayer, Özfatura's funeral prayer was performed. The body of Özfatura, who was bid farewell to his final journey with prayers, was taken to the Pasha Bridge Cemetery in Karabakh for burial. Özfatura was buried here with a ceremony attended by his family, relatives and loved ones.

HE PRESIDENT IZMIR FOR TWO TERMS

Burhan Özfatura, born in Mustafakemalpaşa district of Bursa in 1943, graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences. Özfatura, who worked as an accountant at the Ministry of Finance, served as the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality between 1984-1989 and 1994-1999. Özfatura, who is known for his work in the field of economics as well as politics, worked in various institutions and wrote columns after his term as mayor. Özfatura died at the age of 83 at Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, where he was treated on September 21.
