Jarosław Kaczyński on defense: criticism of the government, nuclear weapons and reserves

Kaczyński stated that the program for the development of the armed forces initiated by the United Right government has been stopped and is being implemented "partially, randomly." In his opinion, we should return to the plan combining arms purchases with expanding the army, taking into account the experience of the war in Ukraine, including: drone development. He noted that it would be expensive.

Nuclear weapons and society's preparation

The PiS president also raised the issue of nuclear weapons. He talked about a program providing for Poland to have it at its disposal. In his opinion, this would increase deterrence potential. Of course, the road to this is not short. But it's not closed either, he said.

He assessed that Poland had too few trained reserves. We need hundreds of thousands of reservists ready to serve, ready to fight, he said. He also pointed to the need to develop readiness to defend, especially among young men.

Shelters, industry and NATO

Kaczyński mentioned the construction of shelters and the preparation of health care and rescue services as elements of civil defense requiring a plan and investment. He also supported the development of domestic weapons, including the production of drones. Some of it has to be purchased, some of it (...) has to be produced here. As much of it as possible should be produced here, he said.
