Juan Jesús Vivas testifies before the National Court about the assault on the Ceuta border

"During the 27th, 28th and 29th [of July] there were 10 attempts to communicate with the President of the Government with calls and messages of which three answered, I seem to remember, through the Director of Cabinet [Diego Rubio]." According to what he said when leaving the National Court, this was one of the statements that the president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, made before Judge María Tardón, who is investigating the massive assault on the Ceuta border on July 30 and 31.

In the two and a half hours that his statement lasted, Vivas stated that the channel of communication between Ceuta and Moncloa was "one-way", indicate legal sources.

The president of Ceuta has stated that he leaves "satisfied" because he has seen in the judge and the Prosecutor's Office "involvement and determination to clarify what happened." According to legal sources present in his statement, Vivas has given "all the necessary information about the communications he was able to make."

Vivas unsealed the interrogations this Wednesday and will be followed by the head of the Ceuta Local Police, Sebastián Vega, and the former Chief of Staff of the Government Delegation Gonzalo Sanz, who will testify tomorrow at 10:00 and 12:00, respectively.

For the judge, these three testimonies are "priority" given "the need to know, directly, the information that was available before the events, the existing forecasts, the evolution of the situation and the specific circumstances that determined the operational collapse."

Already in the subpoena order - with which he also requested reports from more than 30 organizations from all the State security bodies and forces - Tardón announced that, after receiving them, he would summon those who prepared them. After the statements of Vivas, Sanz and Vega, it is foreseeable that the judge will expand the list of appearances and include the names that emerge in this week's testimonies.
