Judge orders provisional prison for the partner of architect Josep Juanpere accused of his death

The judge of the lower court of Vielha (Lleida) has agreed this Friday to avoidable provisional imprisonment with bail of 80,000 euros for the partner of the architect Josep Juanpere accused of his death, which took place in Baqueira (Lleida) on December 26.

This is highlighted in a statement by the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), which states that the case is open for the crime of homicide.

The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Mossos d'Esquadra has been in charge of the investigation and the case is under confidentiality.

The man, who had traveled to Baqueira with his partner to spend the Christmas holidays there, died two days after being treated at the Vielha Hospital for an illness he suffered after a dinner.

The day after his hospital admission, he returned to his apartment in Baqueira with his partner, where he died on December 26.

Juanpere's partner, 64 years old and a member of a prominent family of hotel businessmen, was arrested last Wednesday, after months of investigations in which the Mossos d'Esquadra have investigated the circumstances of the architect's death.

The first autopsy indicated that the cause of death had been a heart attack, but the Vielha court opened a case for which the partner of the co-founder of the GCA Architects studio was arrested on Wednesday.

The attitude of the woman, who had not called the emergency services to report her situation, raised the suspicions of the Catalan police, who ended up arresting her as the alleged perpetrator of a homicide crime.

The Vielha court is investigating the death of the well-known architect after verifying that there were gaps in the story of what happened in the hours before his death.
