Junts negotiates with the Government measures to confront the housing crisis

Junts has admitted that it maintains a negotiation path with the Government on housing matters and that two weeks ago it handed over its proposals to President Pedro Sánchez. And now, after the eviction of Maricarmen, the 87-year-old woman with a disability who had been living in an old rent for seven decades in the Madrid neighborhood of Retiro, the independentistas assure that the PSOE is already studying them.

The PP, Vox and Junts have overturned the ban on evictions of vulnerable people without housing alternatives on two occasions in Congress. The Catalan party has always been critical of the housing recipes of PSOE and Sumar for considering them "interventionist", but now party sources have confirmed that "the PSOE is currently studying Junts' proposals to confront the housing crisis."

The party indicates that two weeks ago it delivered "in hand" to Pedro Sánchez a royal decree-law with the concrete measures to confront the housing crisis that the party already presented months ago in Congress and that, in the opinion of Junts, can gather the necessary support to be approved.

From Junts they have been advocating to implement measures such as tax relief on rents for tenants and part of the mortgage payment for small holders; the reestablishment of savings accounts for home purchases; or encourage the construction of new homes and put existing ones on the market.

They also demand greater public investment in housing and that the State be the one who assumes the cost of social housing policies aimed at vulnerable people, and not small owners.

"After months of government blockade, the PSOE is now studying these proposals and we expect a response in the next few hours," the party adds.
