The defendant's mother made a defense in the school attack case in Kahramanmaraş

The first hearing of the case regarding the school attack in Kahramanmaraş, which shocked Türkiye, continues at the Kahramanmaraş 3rd High Criminal Court. At the hearing, defendant İsa Aras Mersinli's father, Uğur Mersinli, and his mother, Pınar Peyman Mersinli, also made their defense.

Speaking before the court committee, the mother from Mersin stated that she was very saddened by the incident and said that she was also an educator. Mersinli stated that he saw some differences in his son due to puberty, but he did not think that these were signs that he could carry out an attack. Stating that he thought his son went to school just to give him notebooks, Mersinli also said that he made research to get psychologist and psychiatry support before the incident. Mersinli argued that experts said that her child should receive psychiatric treatment, but the process proceeded this way due to evaluations that there was no emergency.

One of the striking statements at the hearing was about the defendant being taken to the beauty center. Pınar Peyman Mersinli stated that her son had many black spots on his face and back and that he was disturbed by this. Mersinli said that he tried to clean his skin at home, but wounds appeared on his face, so he took his son to a beauty center to clean his skin. It was learned that after Anne Mersinli's defense, the hearing continued with other statements and evaluations.
